LSU football received some great news on Tuesday afternoon.

2021 four-star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr, the No. 4 player in Louisiana, announced that he’s heading to Baton Rouge to play for the Tigers.

Thomas, 6-foot-4/190 lbs from Walker, LA, is the 23rd member of LSU’s 2021 recruiting class.

The talented wide receiver will provide the Tigers with another great receiving threat (someone who can be particularly dangerous in the red-zone).

Thomas also helped LSU achieve an impressive feat during the 2021 recruiting cycle.

LSU football goes 6-for-6 with top in-state recruits

For LSU to be great, the program has to dominate in-state recruiting. They can’t let elite players slip away to Alabama, Georgia, Florida, or Texas A&M.

During the 2021 recruiting cycle, LSU did a tremendous job of closing the borders.

With Thomas in the boat, it means that LSU has landed the top six 2021 players in Louisiana.

Thomas, along with five-star defensive tackle Maason Smith, four-star safety Sage Ryan, four-star wide receiver Chris Hilton, four-star defensive end Saivion Jones, and four-star wide receiver Malik Nabers are all set to be Tigers.

As a result of landing the top six players in Louisiana, LSU has the No. 3 ranked 2021 recruiting class in the country.

LSU also signed four-star wide receiver Jack Bech (the No. 11 player in Louisiana) and three-star defensive back Matthew Langlois (the No. 15 player in Louisiana).

The Tigers have to take advantage of the in-state talent that Louisiana provides. And that’s exactly what Ed Orgeron and his staff did during this recruiting cycle.

Unfortunately for LSU, the 2022 recruiting cycle isn’t quite as rich with talent. There currently isn’t a five-star recruit in Louisiana in the 2022 class, which means the Tigers will have to look out-of-state for the “centerpiece” of their 2022 class.
