LSU football is among the top programs for one of the nation’s top-rated 2022 recruits.

Five-star defensive back Denver Harris revealed his final four programs on Sunday and he included the Tigers, along with Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M.

(Georgia, Miami, Florida State, and Tennessee were previously included in Harris’s top eight, but those programs were seemingly eliminated on Sunday.)

Harris, 6-foot-1/180 lbs from Houston, TX (North Shore), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 cornerback in the country and the No. 6 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The obvious question, now, is what kind of shot does LSU have to land the dynamic defensive back?

Is LSU football strongly in the mix for Denver Harris?

Right now, it feels like Texas and Alabama are the programs to beat for Harris, but that doesn’t mean LSU is out of this battle.

In fact, the Tigers are very much in the mix, they just aren’t the perceived leaders.

“My relationship with Coach (Corey) Raymond and Coach O have been solid since Day 1 and they’ve always made sure to consistently reach out and assure me that I have a home in Baton Rouge,” said Harris this week while discussing his recruitment with Rivals.

“From the first time I stepped on campus at LSU, they’ve made me and my family feel welcome and it’s always felt like home,” added Harris.

“Of course, it’s DBU, NFLSU and that goes without saying but the off-the-field vibes are just as important to me.”

Harris also spoke highly of his other three finalists, which makes this a hard recruiting battle to get a read on.

I’m not ready to make a prediction (Harris doesn’t currently have a set commitment date), as I think visits (if/when those visits resume) will ultimately decide this recruiting battle.
