LSU football doesn’t currently have a five-star player committed to its 2022 recruiting class, but that could be changing in the near future.

And it won’t necessarily be because of a new commit.

Four-star quarterback Walker Howard, who committed to LSU last summer, is the highest-rated player that’s currently committed to the Tigers’ 2022 class.

And according to Rivals analysts Chad Simmons and Sam Spiegelman, Howard could reach five-star status very soon.

LSU football has a future stud in Walker Howard

Simmons and Spiegelman recently discussed the 2022 recruits that could be elevated to five-star status in the coming months and Howard was near the top of their list.

“Howard has a scorching release with tremendous arm talent and a knack for pushing the ball downfield,” wrote the duo of Rivals analysts. “His ability to control his offense and make timely plays in an array of different game situations has him among the best in the country regardless of position.”

Howard, 6-foot-1/195 lbs from Lafayette, LA (St Thomas More), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class. He’s also ranked as the No. 34 overall recruit in the country. Howard’s total 247Sports’ composite rating is 0.9830, which puts him right on the cusp of being a five-star recruit.

Essentially, it’s only a matter of time before Howard gets his fifth star.

And he certainly deserves it. The LSU legacy has the potential to be a transcendent quarterback for the Tigers.
