LSU Basketball: Where the Tigers stand as we approach March Madness
By Zach Ragan
LSU basketball is nearing the end of the regular season, which means March Madness is nearly upon us.
The Tigers currently have a 14-6 record, which is good enough for second in the SEC.
With three games left in the regular season, it certainly feels like LSU is a lock to make the NCAA Tournament.
But where will the Tigers be seeded?
LSU basketball’s latest seeding projection
According to the latest bracketology prediction from ESPN (via 247Sports), LSU should make the NCAA Tournament as a No. 7 seed in Region two.
I’d say this feels about right, though it might be just a bit low if anything.
Three of LSU’s six losses came against ranked programs. And four of the Tigers’ losses came on the road.
The loss to a not-so-great Kentucky team doesn’t look good, but I think the win over a ranked Tennessee team makes up for that loss.
If LSU has a strong finish to the season, I could certainly see the Tigers jumping to a four or five seed (especially if they win a game or two in the SEC Tournament).
This LSU team has the potential to be dangerous in the NCAA Tournament. This is the time of year when we see programs that are afterthoughts during the season on a national level become household names in the NCAA Tournament.
I don’t see any reason why LSU can’t be one of those programs this year.
Though to be honest, we’re all winners this year when it comes to the NCAA Tournament. After watching the tourney get canceled last year, I’m just thankful we’ll be getting a full March slate of basketball.
