LSU Football: Tigers out in front for 4-star LB from Florida
By Zach Ragan
LSU football appears to be one of the early leaders for 2022 four-star athlete DeMario Tolan.
Tolan, 6-foot-3/205 lbs from Kissimmee, FL (Tohopekaliga High), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 9 inside linebacker in the country. He’s also ranked as the No. 241 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
The Florida native recently spoke to Rivals about his recruitment and it’s clear that LSU is near the top of recruitment (along with Auburn).
“Auburn and LSU are big-time programs and they definitely have my attention,” said Tolan to Rivals this week. “Each school is a big name, I have dreamed about playing for those schools, and I will be able to speak on them more as I get to know more about them.”
“I just know they (Auburn and LSU) have my attention,” added the talented linebacker.
What are LSU football’s chances of landing Tolan?
It sounds like it’s a bit too early to tell.
The Tigers clearly are on Tolan’s radar, and I think calling LSU the “co-leaders” (with Auburn) would be fair, but this battle is nowhere close to being finished.
Tolan is planning to wait on taking visits before he even gets close to making a final decision.
“I am wide open to everyone, I am still just getting to know coaches, and trying to see what each school is about,” explained Tolan. “I am looking into the education each school offers, I want to see what the coaches are like, and I really want to take some visits as soon as we can.”
The NCAA recently extended the recruiting dead period through May 31. The hope is that visits will resume this summer, but at this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not that happens (I thought for sure the dead period wouldn’t extended again before it recently was).
LSU currently has 10 commits to its 2022 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 2 in the nation.
