LSU football is hard at work putting together its 2022 recruiting class.

The Tigers currently have 10 commits to their 2022 class, which is ranked No. 2 in the nation (247Sports composite).

LSU doesn’t have a running back committed yet, but there’s one that should definitely be at the top of their list.

And he’s an elite in-state recruit.

The 2022 running back LSU football needs to land

2022 four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen, 6-foot/217 lbs from Lake Charles, LA (Lake Charles College Prep), is a player the Tigers absolutely need to land.

Citizen is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 15 running back in the country and the No. 10 player in Louisiana.

The four-star running back is a versatile player who can play on both sides of the ball (he also plays linebacker), though he seems likely to stick at running back at the next level.

247Sports describes Citizen as one of Louisiana’s “most explosive players”.

Citizen averaged close to 10 yards per carry in 2020 (62 carries for 615 yards and eight touchdowns) against quality competition. That type of production at the high school level in Louisiana should translate to success in the SEC.

Landing elite in-state talent is a key ingredient to LSU’s success. Citizen is a player that should be considered an LSU lean. The only way the Tigers can mess this up is if they just decide they don’t want Citizen in Baton Rouge.

Next. Joe Burrow the best in the AFC North?. dark

But I don’t see that happening. Citizen has SEC-ready size, physicality, and speed. He could step into the TIgers’ lineup on day one and help LSU win games.

There’s no current expected commitment date for Citizen at this point.
