Former LSU football commit still has Tigers in top 5
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is among the top five schools for an elite 2022 safety from Texas.
Four-star defensive back Bryce Anderson revealed his top five schools (via Twitter) on Saturday, and he included the Tigers, along with Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.
Anderson, 6-foot/190 lbs from Beaumont, TX (West Brook), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 safety in the country and the No. 61 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
So where does Anderson end up?
Can LSU football get Anderson back in the boat?
Anderson was actually one of the first commits to LSU’s 2022 recruiting class, but he decommitted late last month.
When Anderson decommitted, he didn’t rule out LSU. He simply wanted to re-open his recruitment and check out his options.
The Tigers have plenty of talented defensive backs, but Anderson is still a player they want to see in Baton Rouge.
The biggest threat here appears to be Texas A&M. The Aggies are pushing hard for the in-state product and I think they have a legitimate shot to land him.
If I had to bet, I’d wager on Anderson ending up at either LSU or Texas A&M. And if I was forced to pick right now, I’d go with the Aggies.
But that’s only because Anderson obviously wasn’t comfortable enough with the Tigers to stick with his recruitment. Typically when a player decommits, they don’t end up re-committing (though that does happen from time to time).
Either way, it’s clear LSU is going to continue to pursue Anderson and try to keep him away from their SEC West rivals.
