LSU Football: Tigers have interest in 4-star WR from Texas
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of several programs showing interest in 2022 four-star wide receiver Chris Marshall.
Marshall, 6-foot-3/195 lbs from Missouri City, TX (Fort Bend Marshall), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 23 wide receiver in the country and the No. 185 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
The Tigers offered Marshall in late January.
Since receiving an offer from LSU, Marshall has also received offers from Auburn, Texas Tech, Arizona State, and Oregon. He already had offers from Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC, among several others.
Chris Marshall would be an intriguing option for LSU football
Marshall is a recruit that I find incredibly interesting.
The Texas native is an accomplished basketball player (he has several Power-5 scholarship offers for basketball) who didn’t even start playing football until his junior year of high school.
In Marshall’s first season playing football, he caught 45 passes for 1,009 yards and 18 touchdowns.
If he was that good in his first year playing football (in Texas nonetheless), then I can’t imagine what kind of untapped potential he has.
Marshall is the type of player who has great size, athleticism, and speed. He’s exactly what programs are looking for in the SEC. And since he just started playing football, he doesn’t have a lot of bad habits that will need to be erased.
For now, it sounds like USC could be the team to beat for Marshall. But the talented dual-sport athlete isn’t expected to commit until next year after his basketball season, which means LSU (and other programs) has plenty of time to become a major factor in Marshall’s recruitment.
