LSU football is one of the top schools for an elite offensive lineman from Texas.

2022 five-star offensive tackle Devon Campbell revealed his top eight schools this weekend and he included the Tigers, along with Alabama, Florida State, Houston, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.

LSU didn’t appear to be included at first, as they weren’t in the graphic that Campbell tweeted. But he quickly clarified that the Tigers are in his top eight. Campbell said that LSU not being included in the graphic was a “mistake”.

Campbell, 6-foot-4/310 lbs from Arlington, TX (Bowie), is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 offensive guard in the country. Because of his size, it seems more likely that Campbell will stick at guard at the college level and not offensive tackle.

What kind of shot does LSU football have?

I’ll be honest — I don’t feel good about LSU’s chances to land Campbell. I think he’s simply including the Tigers because it’s one of the top brands in college football.

The fact that Campbell didn’t include LSU in his recruiting graphic feels like a pretty big clue that the Tigers aren’t at the front of his mind.

Of course, anything can happen in recruiting. And it appears that LSU offensive line coach James Cregg is making a legitimate push for Campbell. He’s a player the Tigers are actively trying to get to Baton Rouge.

But I would be very surprised if Campbell doesn’t end up at Texas. He has a good relationship with the new coaching staff there and it’s close to home. That’s going to be tough for LSU to overcome.

Next. LSU has interest in 4-star WR from Texas. dark

We’ll see how it plays out in the coming months, but I wouldn’t bet on the Tigers landing Campbell.
