LSU football is one of the two programs in a great position to land 2022 four-star running back Le’veon Moss.

Moss, 6-foot/190 lbs from Baton Rouge, LA (Istrouma Senior), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 running back in the country and the No. 100 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The other program at the top for Moss is Alabama (no surprise there).

Alabama and LSU were two of the first programs to offer Moss.

This could be a tough battle for LSU football to win

Typically, elite players from Baton Rouge end up at LSU. That’s just the way it goes.

But when Alabama gets heavily involved, those recruiting battles get significantly tougher.

Moss seems to really like both programs. And he likes what he’s hearing from both coaches.

“He’s (Alabama head coach Nick Saban) more about your life after football than your football career,” explained Moss recently to 247Sports. “The way he talks to me makes it seem like he cares more about you being a man than just an athlete. I love their football program.”

Moss made similar comments when discussing LSU.

“They (LSU) also worry more about academics than you playing on the field and like skills and becoming a man,” said Moss. “I love their football program. I can see myself playing there.”

This certainly has all the makings of an intense recruiting battle. If visits are eventually allowed to resume (the NCAA recruiting shutdown currently runs through May 31), that could end up being the determining factor.

dark. Next. Interesting QB battle for LSU?

If I had to make a pick here, I’d stick with the Tigers. This battle is so close that it could come down to location, and that’s where LSU has the edge.
