Four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen is one of LSU football‘s top 2022 recruiting targets.

Citizen, 6-foot/217 lbs from Lake Charles, LA (Lake Charles Prep), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 15 running back in the country and the No. 158 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The talented running back grew up rooting for the Tigers.

But that doesn’t mean LSU is a lock to secure a commitment from Citizen.

LSU football will have to fight hard for TreVonte’ Citizen

Citizen recently discussed his recruitment with Rivals and made it clear that his LSU fandom won’t be factoring into his decision.

“I am still just enjoying the recruiting process and looking at all the schools equally,” said Citizen to Rivals. “I am not planning to make a decision any time soon. I am going to grind it out, and at the earliest, I could commit right before my senior season, but I will likely make my decision during the season.”

Citizen also discussed what he’ll make his decision based on.

“It is a business decision for me when I pick my college,” explained Citizen. “Outside of the relationships, it will come down to the statistics on who they put into the NFL, how I would fit into the system they run, and how I feel about the system. A lot will go into the decision.”

Colorado, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and Louisiana Tech are the other programs that appear to be in the mix for Citizen.

If the Tigers aren’t able to land Citizen, they’re also pursuing 2022 four-star running back Trevor Etienne, the brother of Clemson running back Travis Etienne.
