LSU Football: Tigers pushing hard for 4-star OLB from Texas
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of the programs near the top of the list for a four-star linebacker from Texas.
Kip Lewis, 6-foot-2/200 lbs from Carthage, TX (Carthage), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 25 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 46 player in Texas.
Lewis recently spoke to Rivals about his recruitment.
And LSU is one of the four programs heavily in the mix to land the talented linebacker.

Lewis told Rivals this week that LSU is one of the programs communicating with him the most.
“It’s been a lot (of schools) really, but mostly Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, and Notre Dame,” said Lewis.
Lewis has been speaking mostly with Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron and graduate assistant Alec Osborne.
“I talk to Coach O a lot,” explained Lewis. “Coach O and Coach Osborne, but I mostly talk to Coach O. I love those guys. Coach O, he’s himself all the time and I love that. He’s one of the most unique people I know.”
While it’s clear that LSU is high on Lewis’s list, don’t expect the Texas native to make a decision anytime soon.
Lewis says he wants to take “a lot” of visits before making his decision.
The NCAA recruiting dead period currently runs through May 31. The expectation is that visits will be allowed to resume this summer. However, as many times as the recruiting dead period has been extended, I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s extended again.
LSU currently has 10 players committed to its 2022 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 3 in the country and No. 1 in the SEC.
