LSU football will enter the 2021 season looking to build on their strong finish to the 2020 season.

The Tigers had a rough start to the 2020 season, losing two of their first three games (to inferior opponents).

But the program rallied behind true freshman quarterback Max Johnson late in the season, winning the final two games of the year (against Florida and Ole Miss) to finish the season with a respectable 5-5 record.

It’s clear from LSU’s strong finish that the program is on the right track.

But how much progress should we expect to see in 2021?

247Sports predicts Vegas win totals for LSU football

247Sports recently predicted the Vegas win totals for every team in the SEC.

And I think their prediction for the Tigers falls right in line with what fans should expect.

247Sports writers Brad Crawford and Bud Elliott made the predictions.

Elliott has LSU at 8 wins, while Crawford has the Tigers at 8.5 wins.

I think Crawford is spot on with his prediction. Setting LSU’s win total at 8.5 seems like the most likely move for Vegas.

If you take a glance at LSU’s schedule, it’s pretty easy to find eight wins.

The four “toss-up” games on the schedule are Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama, and Texas A&M. I could see the Tigers winning one of those games and finishing 9-3.

(Note: I’m putting the Auburn game down as a win for LSU.)

The Tigers probably aren’t going to be a threat to win the SEC West in 2021. But the program is obviously moving in the right direction after going through a mini-rebuild last season.

The future is bright in Baton Rouge. And it shouldn’t be long before LSU is competing for a national championship again.
