A 2022 LSU football commit ended this past weekend by receiving some huge praise from Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney.

Five-star quarterback Walker Howard, who committed to the Tigers last summer, was named by Gorney as “top of the class” at the quarterback position at the Rivals Camp Series in Dallas this weekend.

“There is so much to like when it comes to five-star quarterback Walker Howard,” wrote Gorney. “The LSU commit is a vocal leader on the field telling receivers where to go and he has an alpha-male competitive quality that should serve him well when he’s vying for a starting job in the SEC.”

“Walker has smooth footwork, a powerful arm and the five-star definitely has confidence when he’s on the field that he can make any throw,” added Gorney.

The only area where Howard struggled, according to Gorney, was with accuracy on his deep passes.

Gorney noted that Howard has a cannon, but at times this weekend it felt like he was trying to put “too much mustard” on everything, which caused some passes to sail.

But that’s not something that should concern LSU fans — Howard was likely just trying to show off his arm.

LSU football’s 2022 recruiting class is shaping up to be really nice

While Howard is one of the centerpieces of LSU’s 2022 recruiting class, he’s far from the only player that Tigers fans should be excited about.

LSU also has another five-star committed in offensive tackle Will Campbell, who is rated as the No. 26 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The Tigers also have a pair of dynamic four-star cornerbacks committed in Laterrance Welch and JaDarian Rhym.

LSU currently has the No. 3 ranked recruiting class in the nation with only 11 commits.

That means the Tigers have plenty of room to add some more elite talent — which I’m sure will be the case.
