LSU football appears to be one of the programs to beat for one of the nation’s top-rated offensive tackles.

Four-star offensive lineman Julian Armella, 6-foot-6/300 lbs from Miami, FL, recently discussed his recruitment with Rivals and he made it clear that two programs are standing out.

“LSU and Alabama are probably recruiting me the hardest,” said Armella.

Armella is set to visit Baton Rouge on June 5-8.

Visits will be key in Armella’s decision.

“Ultimately, what’s gonna decide where I go is June 1 when I can go visit these schools,” explained Armella.

“The main thing with me and my recruitment is the feel … whatever feels like home to me,” added Armella.

The LSU football recruiting target could get a ratings bump soon

Armella is rated in 247Sports’ composite as a four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the country.

Rivals is a bit higher on Armella, ranking him as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class (they also have him as a five-star recruit).

I wouldn’t be surprised if Armella climbs 247Sports’ rankings in the coming months.

Alabama is going to be tough to beat for Armella. And Miami — the hometown school in this recruiting battle — is also working hard to land the talented offensive lineman.

We should have a better idea of what Armella is thinking later this summer after he visits the top schools on his list.

This is clearly a player that nearly every program in the nation wants, so I have no doubt that Ed Orgeron and his staff will roll out the red carpet in hopes of wooing the talented 2022 recruit to Baton Rouge.
