LSU football is one of the numerous programs hoping to land 2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning, of course, is the nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning. He’s the grandson of former New Orleans Saints/Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning, and the son of Cooper Manning (who was set to play for the Rebels, before health issues prematurely ended his football career).

Arch is viewed by most folks as a can’t-miss quarterback prospect who is already one of the most highly coveted players in the 2023 recruiting class.

LSU has a hometown advantage for Manning (the Mannings have made New Orleans their home since Archie Manning’s playing days with the Saints in the 1970s). Other programs, however, are pushing hard for Arch. Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas are all hoping to be the program that lands the young quarterback with a rich football bloodline.

LSU football has another 2023 QB option

This is a recruiting battle that’s going to take a lot of time. Arch will be deliberate in choosing a school. He won’t rush this decision.

If the Tigers don’t land Arch, they have a safety blanket in Rickie Collins, a 2023 dual-threat quarterback from Baton Rouge.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman revealed 10 new four-star recruits in the 2023 class on Friday and Collins was one of those players.

“Coming off a promising sophomore campaign and a fantastic start to the offseason, Collins is establishing himself as one of the top quarterbacks nationwide,” writes Rivals recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman. “He’s a three-sport standout that dabbles in hoops and baseball, and that athleticism rears itself while making outstanding off-schedule throws.”

Manning is obviously the quarterback LSU is hoping to land during the 2023 recruiting cycle. But if they miss on Manning and land Collins instead, it’ll still be a pretty good pickup for the Tigers.
