LSU football isn’t the favorite to land 2022 four-star running back Branson Robinson, but the Tigers are staying in the race for the elite running back.

Robinson, 5-foot-10/220 lbs from Madison, MS (Germantown), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 running back in the country and the No. 1 player in Mississippi.

The talented running back is set to make a decision in the coming months, after taking visits this summer.

The Georgia Bulldogs, according to Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, are the current “leaders in the clubhouse” for Robinson.

LSU, however, is still hanging around, thanks to Robinson’s relationship with Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron.

Can LSU football make a move for Branson Robinson?

Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and LSU are all strongly in the mix to land Robinson.

While Georgia appears to be the leader, LSU is in a decent position to be a major factor when Robinson makes his final decision.

And it’s mostly because of the strong relationship Robinson has developed with Coach O.

“The best relationship I have is actually with Coach O,” said Robinson to Rivals. “We talk on FaceTime a lot and we talk a lot in general. We talk about LSU in general, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and those type of guys, the style they used them and how they’d use me in a similar way.”

“They want me to play,” added Robinson. “I know I’ll have the opportunity to play early either way I go, so I just want to make sure everything is good, everything is great before I decide on one of these schools.”

This battle is going to come down to where Robinson feels the most comfortable.

Visits can change everything. If Robinson shows up to Baton Rouge and loves the vibe, it could be game over for the other programs hoping to land the dynamic running back.
