It’s not even summer yet and it’s already obvious that LSU football quarterback Myles Brennan won’t be receiving much respect this season.

After the conclusion of the 2021 NFL Draft, 247Sports put together a list of offensive players to watch for the 2022 NFL Draft.

They listed 17 quarterbacks.

Myles Brennan was not one of the quarterbacks they listed.

LSU football QB Myles Brennan deserves some respect

Brennan, a redshirt senior, waited patiently for three seasons for his turn to lead the Tigers’ offense (he played behind Joe Burrow for two of those seasons).

The Mississippi native with a rich Louisiana bloodline started the first three games of the 2020 season for LSU before an abdomen injury sidelined him for the rest of the season.

In those three games, Brennan proved to be among the best quarterbacks in the SEC. He passed for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Over a 15 game season, those numbers extrapolate to 5,560 yards, 55 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.

Those are Joe Burrow-like numbers.

How in the world can 247Sports not include a player with Joe Burrow-like numbers among the players to watch in the 2022 NFL Draft?

It makes no sense!

The only thing I can think of is that the ongoing quarterback battle in Baton Rouge has caused some folks to view Brennan as “not a sure thing”.

And that’s absolutely ludicrous.

Brennan deserves some respect. He played like a future NFL first-round pick in those three games last season (against SEC competition).

While we don’t know whether or not Brennan will start for LSU this fall (the Tigers have an embarrassment of riches at quarterback), it doesn’t change that he has the skills to lead an NFL franchise.

247Sports is going to regret leaving Brennan off this list. Though if he ends up being the starter for LSU this season, I have a feeling they’ll quickly jump on the Myles Brennan train.
