LSU Football: Recruiting analyst predicts Tigers will land 5-star OL
By Zach Ragan
LSU football‘s 2022 recruiting class already looks like it’s going to be one of the best in the nation.
The Tigers currently have 13 players committed to their 2022 recruiting class, including three five-star recruits (quarterback Walker Howard, offensive lineman Will Campbell, and defensive back Jacoby Mathews).
With only 13 players committed, LSU has plenty of room left to add some more elite talent.
And Rivals’ Jimmy Smith, who covers LSU at TigerDetails.com, thinks LSU will land one of the most coveted 2022 recruits in the country.
Another big addition for LSU football?
Smith made some 2022 class predictions for LSU this week and he has the Tigers landing five-star offensive lineman Julian Armella.
Armella, 6-foot-6/300 lbs from Miami, FL (Columbus), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the country. Rivals has a higher opinion of Armella, ranking the talented offensive lineman as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
Armella is obviously being pursued by some of the top programs in college football.
The Florida native isn’t planning to make a decision until he takes his visits (after June 1). So for now, all the usual suspects are still in the mix to land Armella.
I think LSU will be a serious contender until the end for Armella. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the Tigers end up signing the stud recruit. But I’m not ready to predict Armella to LSU. There are simply too many unknowns still.
How will Armella react to visits? Will something turn him off from a program after he visits? We need the answers to those questions before we can make a solid prediction.
