Utah typically isn’t the state where LSU football goes to recruit.

But that isn’t stopping the Tigers in their pursuit of a 2022 four-star linebacker from the Beehive State.

Lander Barton, 6-foot-4/215 lbs from Salt Lake City, UT (Brighton), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 20 outside linebacker in the country and the No.1 player in Utah.

In addition to his offer from LSU, Barton currently holds offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, and USC, among others.

Can LSU Football land Lander Barton?

Barton recently spoke to Rivals about his recruitment — specifically about the Tigers.

“They for sure are a place of interest,” said Barton while discussing LSU. “I was even trying to come out to a camp sometime in June if the dates workout, like maybe June 17 or 18.”

“I don’t have a ton of knowledge about the program, but I for sure watched them growing up, especially the last few years,” added Barton. “I liked watching Tyrann Mathieu when he was there.”

For now, it doesn’t sound like Barton is anywhere close to making a decision.

In fact, he’s still trying to figure out which programs will be in his top five.

Barton understandably wants to take some visits before he starts narrowing down his choices.

While it could be tough for LSU to convince the talented linebacker to leave the west coast for Baton Rouge, it certainly sounds like Barton is at least considering the idea.

The Tigers currently have 13 players committed to their 2022 recruiting class. They don’t have a linebacker committed yet, which could help in their pursuit of Barton.
