LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron made quite an impression on one of the top 2023 defensive backs in the nation.

Four-star safety Ryan Yaites, 6-foot-1/175 lbs from Denton, TX (Guyer), recently spoke to 247Sports about his recruitment.

And he was practically gushing over Coach O.

“I loved his (Orgeron) energy,” said Yaites. “Just by the chat we had, I can tell he’s a great guy and he made me feel comfortable and welcomed to the LSU family.”

Yaites, who is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 7 safety in the country, wasn’t just impressed by Orgeron — he was impressed by LSU in general.

“The academics are great at the school,” said Yaites. “They produce and grow great talent. We see it in every NFL Draft. They can definitely help me improve my game to help me get to the next level.”

LSU football will have plenty of competition for Ryan Yaites

LSU is going to have some stiff competition for Ryan Yaites.

The dynamic defensive back also has offers from Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas, and USC, among others.

Pulling an elite recruit out of Texas obviously isn’t easy.

LSU, however, has had plenty of recent recruiting success in Texas, so this is a battle the Tigers can definitely win.

Whoever gets Yaites will be getting a player who is extremely confident in his abilities.

“I plan to get bigger, stronger, faster, and working heavily with my trainer to be more fundamentally sound in all my situations and sharpen my footwork and technique,” said Yaites.

dark. Next. Is there too much pressure on Joe Burrow?

The Tigers don’t currently have any players committed to their 2023 recruiting class.
