Former LSU football wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chase was the first wide receiver selected in the draft.

The former four-star recruit, who opted out of the 2020 season, had a season to remember for the Tigers in 2019.

Chase caught 84 passes for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2019 while helping LSU to a 15-0 season and a win in the national championship game against Clemson. It’s fairly safe to say that there wasn’t a more complete wide receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft than Chase.

Ja’Marr Chase’s hilarious reaction to the city of Cincinnati

Chase is a Louisiana native who is from Metairie (just outside of New Orleans).

Apparently, Chase wasn’t very familiar with Cincinnati prior to being drafted by the Bengals.

Chase told reporters this week that Cincinnati isn’t exactly what he pictured.

“This is not what I thought Cincinnati was going to be, so I’m actually liking this so far,” said Chase this week (via Bengals.com).

“I actually thought Cincinnati was going to be a bunch of land … I didn’t realize we had so many buildings, tall buildings, hills,” added Chase. “So much is down here you know, so I was actually surprised.”

To be fair, Ohio is a long way from Louisiana. So it’s no surprise that Chase wasn’t very familiar with Cincinnati.

However, Chase better get used to Ohio and playing for the Bengals.

Because he likely isn’t going anywhere for a very long time. Chase is going to be a key part of Cincinnati’s franchise for many years to come.
