LSU football could be adding a huge (literally) commit in the next couple of months.

Julie Boudwin, who covers the Tigers for Rivals, is predicting that four-star offensive lineman Emery Jones could commit to LSU at some point this summer.

“LSU is still believed to be the leader for landing the Baton Rouge native and I have a FutureCast in on him to the Tigers,” writes Boudwin.

Jones was originally supposed to announce his commitment on March 10, but he changed those plans once it was revealed that the NCAA would start allowing visits on June 1.

LSU football has some help in their pursuit of Emery Jones

Jones, 6-foot-4/330 lbs from Baton Rouge, LA (Catholic), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 10 offensive guard in the country and the No. 12 player in Louisiana.

While most elite players from Baton Rouge end up playing for the Tigers, it’s no guarantee that LSU will land Jones.

That’s why it’s good news that Ed Orgeron and his staff have some help in their pursuit of the talented offensive lineman.

Boudwin noted that a couple of current Tigers commits are playing a big role in the battle for Jones.

“LSU commitments Walker Howard and Will Campbell are pushing heavily for Jones to remain in Baton Rouge for the next few years,” reported Boudwin.

Jones is obviously doing his due diligence before making a decision — which is a wise move by the young recruit.

But ultimately, it’s hard to imagine the Tigers not landing Jones.

LSU is battling Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and several others for the Louisiana native. There’s no current timetable for Jones’ commitment.
