LSU football is doing all it can to stay in the battle for one of the nation’s top-rated 2022 defensive backs.

Four-star cornerback Earl Little Jr, 6-foot/175 lbs from Fort Lauderdale, FL (American Heritage), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 12 cornerback in the country and the No. 13 player in Florida.

Little is also rated as the No. 102 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

According to 247Sports, Alabama is the team to beat for Little.

“It sounds like the tide has started to turn in his recruitment and that Alabama might now be the team to beat for his signature,” writes 247Sports’ recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins.

Ivins noted that Little is scheduled to visit Alabama on June 17 for an unofficial visit.

LSU football isn’t out of this recruiting battle yet

While Alabama is the perceived favorite in the battle for Little, the Tigers are still “very much” in the picture.

“Ed Orgeron’s Tigers still remain very much in the picture with Little,” said Ivins.

The 247Sports recruiting analyst suggested that Clemson could also become a major factor in Little’s recruitment.

Crazy things happen in recruiting, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see LSU somehow surge past Alabama and Clemson in this battle.

But for now, it doesn’t appear that this is a battle that LSU is going to win.

Next. LSU could land top safety in the nation. dark

And that’s fine. The Tigers are in good shape at cornerback right now. LSU has four-star cornerbacks Laterrance Welch and JaDarian Rhym already committed to its 2022 recruiting class. The Tigers also have a commitment from 2022 three-star cornerback Marcus Scott II.
