LSU Football: Tigers battling Texas and Texas A&M for 5-star OL
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is battling Texas and Texas A&M for a five-star offensive tackle.
2022 five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks, 6-foot-5/300 lbs from Humble, TX (Summer Creek), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 player in Texas.
Banks is also rated as the No. 25 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
The stud offensive lineman has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Oregon, among many others.
But it’s the Longhorns, Tigers, and the Aggies that appear to be locked in a battle for the Texas native.
“I see it as an LSU-Texas-Texas A&M battle,” said 247Sports’ Billy Embody on Friday.
Can LSU football beat out Texas A&M for Kelvin Banks?
Texas A&M is currently viewed as the favorite to land Banks.
The 247Sports crystal ball predictions favor the Aggies, but there’s still plenty of time left in this recruiting battle.
LSU is set to receive a visit from Banks on June 4 for “family weekend”.
Embody believes that visit will be key in the Tigers’ pursuit of Banks.
“The Banks’ family is more and more interested in LSU and the official visit could be a chance for LSU to make serious waves in the recruitment,” writes Embody.
“LSU has a chance to knock it out of the park with the family that first weekend in June,” added Embody.
This battle is clearly going to come down to visits. It’s hard to make any sort of prediction before we hear how the visit goes for Banks.
But it’s a good sign that LSU appears to be squarely in this battle.
