LSU Football: Tigers should be the favorites to land 2023 4-star WR
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of several programs pursuing 2023 four-star wide receiver Braylon James.
And the Tigers should be the favorites to land him.
James, 6-foot-3/175 lbs from Del Valle, TX (Del Valle), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 17 wide receiver in the country and the No. 21 player in Texas.
He’s also ranked as the No. 126 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
Why LSU football should be the favorite to land Braylon James
James was offered by LSU last week. And it was an offer the Texas native has been waiting on.
“This is one I’ve been working for my whole life. Since the Les Miles days, I was always a huge fan of them,” said James to 247Sports this week.
One of the reasons James has been wanting an offer from the Tigers is because of his plethora of connections to LSU.
“Coach Orgeron’s uncle was my dad’s principal. So my dad knew him,” explained James. “My dad went to high school with Ja’Marr Chase’s dad and mom.
“Another (is) Tyrann Mathieu, we’re not related through blood, but through marriage, he’s my cousin or something like that,” added James.
LSU obviously has the upper hand in this battle, but the Tigers still have work to do.
James isn’t going to commit to the Tigers just because of his connections to the program. Ed Orgeron and his staff are still going to have to recruit him just like they would any other player.
The talented wide receiver is also considering Stanford, California, Texas Tech, Miami, and Clemson, among others.
There’s plenty of time left in this recruiting battle, but it certainly sounds like LSU will have a great shot at landing James.
