LSU Football: The 2 reasons Ed Orgeron is excited about the Tigers in 2021
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is looking to enjoy a bounce-back season in 2021 after going 5-5 last season.
Judging by Ed Orgeron’s recent optimism, a bounce-back season might be exactly what’s in store for the Tigers.
Coach O appeared on 104.5 in Baton Rouge this week to discuss the upcoming 2021 season.
And he could barely contain his excitement.
Ed Orgeron is excited about LSU football in 2021
There are two key seasons that Orgeron is excited about LSU in 2021.
Veteran leadership and depth.
“I feel like I have a veteran team with great leadership,” said Orgeron. “I’m very confident in our coaching staff. I think we have all the tools to be successful.”
Coach O noted that he’s seen a lot of players working out on the weekends on their own. Player-led workouts are always a great sign of solid team leadership.
As for the depth, Orgeron is especially happy with how many quality inside linebackers the Tigers have on the roster.
“We’re deep, three or four stings on both lines,” said Orgeron. “The linebacker group, we got more inside linebackers than we ever had here.”
LSU utilized the transfer portal to add some key players. Linebacker Mike Jones transferred to LSU from Clemson, while Major Burns arrived in Baton Rouge after spending a season at Georgia.
(For Burns, a Baton Rouge native, transferring to LSU is a homecoming.)
The Tigers have plenty of talent on the roster. And the coaching staff has a brand new look.
Everything is in place for LSU to have the type of season Tigers fans are accustomed to seeing (247Sports agrees, as they have LSU playing in the Peach Bowl).
Results on Saturdays are obviously all that matter. But there’s plenty of reasons to be optimistic that the results will be positive this fall.
