Recruiting analyst predicts LSU football will land 4-star in-state WR

LSU football appears to be on its way to landing one of the top wide receivers in the 2022 recruiting class.
Four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston, 6-foot/190 lbs from Saint James, LA (St James), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 8 wide receiver in the country and the No. 4 player in Louisiana.
Preston is also rated as the No. 67 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
The dynamic wide receiver holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, and USC, among many others.
LSU football predicted to land Shazz Preston
Billy Embody, who covers Tigers recruiting for 247Sports, recently made some “class predictions” for LSU’s 2022 recruiting class.
And he included Preston as part of his predictions.
“Things are trending well with the St. James star for LSU,” writes Embody.
“The Tigers will have to fend off some official visits from other suitors, but between Mickey Joseph and Mason Smith working this recruitment, they’re chipping away at the Top 100 prospect,” added Embody.
Preston is a versatile player that can play any of the wide receiver positions. He excels at catching the ball in traffic and making contested catches. Those types of wide receivers are always important to have. Preston isn’t a burner, but he has enough speed to beat defenders in the SEC.
Mississippi State could be the biggest threat to LSU in this battle. Preston’s brother signed with the Bulldogs in 2017.
LSU, however, has a strong connection to Preston via wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph, who knows Preston’s father extremely well (the two played together).
Ultimately, LSU should end up landing the talented 2022 recruit.
The Tigers currently have 13 commits to their 2022 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 3 in the country.
