LSU football is making one of the top 2022 players in the state of Texas a priority.

The Tigers are one of several programs pursuing 2022 five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks.

Banks, 6-foot-5/300 lbs from Humble, TX (Summer Creek), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 player in Texas. He’s also rated as the No. 25 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The Texas native holds notable offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M, among many others.

LSU football is ramping up its pursuit of Kelvin Banks

247Sports’ Billy Embody reported on Thursday that LSU is “getting into a better spot” with Banks as we enter the summer months.

“LSU will roll out the red carpet and hope to make a major move here before he trips across the country the rest of the month,” said Embody.

Banks is visiting LSU in June. Embody included the talented offensive tackle in his 2022 class projection for the Tigers this week.

Texas and Texas A&M appear to be the biggest competition for Banks.

It definitely sounds like this recruiting battle is trending in favor of LSU.

But the visits this summer will be what ultimately decides whether or not the Tigers land the nation’s No. 3 offensive tackle, or if they have to watch him stay in-state and play for the Longhorns or the Aggies.

Next. Did the Bengals do Joe Burrow a disservice?. dark

LSU currently has 13 players committed to its 2022 recruiting class (good enough for No. 3 in the country). That includes five-star offensive lineman Will Campbell, three-star offensive lineman Lucas Taylor, and three-star offensive lineman Bo Bordelon.

I’m sure Ed Orgeron would love to add Banks to that impressive list of names.
