LSU football appears to be one of the three programs that have a legitimate chance to land 2022 five-star defensive lineman Walter Nolen.

Nolen, 6-foot-4/300 lbs from Cordova, TN (St Benedict at Auburndale), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 1 player in Tennessee.

He’s also ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

Unsurprisingly, nearly every major program in the nation is hoping to land the ridiculously talented defensive lineman.

Can LSU football land Walter Nolen?

Nolen recently spoke to 247Sports to discuss his recruitment.

And he made it clear that LSU is one of the programs he’s high on.

“LSU, Coach O, he’s a good person and I feel like we hit it off,” said Nolen. “I feel like they produce good linemen. There’s a reason Maason (Smith) went there”

247Sports noted that Nolen will take official visits “in the near future” to Alabama and LSU.

Nolen recently visited Florida and was extremely impressed.

“It felt like home for me. They got everything I need,” said Nolen of his visit to Florida.

While most major programs are pursuing Nolen, there are only three that appear to be firmly in this recruiting battle.

“Probably between Florida, Bama, and LSU,” explained Nolen.

That’s not a surprise, based on his previous comments.

This is going to be an intense recruiting battle the rest of the way. And it won’t be decided anytime soon.

LSU is the place to be for defensive linemen, thanks to the presence of Ed Orgeron.

Will that be enough to bring Nolen to Baton Rouge?

We should know in the coming months.
