Former LSU football wide receiver Jarvis Landry managed to get former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Bakey Mayfield in purple and gold this week.

Mayfield participated in Landry’s celebrity softball game this weekend. And the jerseys for Mayfield’s team were a beautiful combination of purple and gold.

Check it out.

Those aren’t quite the Oklahoma crimson and cream colors that we were accustomed to seeing Mayfield wear during his college years.

Baker Mayfield is outnumbered when it comes to LSU football

Fortunately for Mayfield, LSU isn’t a major rival of Oklahoma (Mayfield never played against the Tigers in college). Otherwise, he’d be hearing it all the time from two of his most important teammates with the Cleveland Browns — Landy and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, two of the greatest former Tigers of all time.

I imagine Mayfield has a bit of a soft spot for LSU considering how important Landry and OBJ are to his future success.

By the way, Mayfield was hitting absolute bombs at Landy’s softball event.

I’m not exactly sure what the situation was in the video below, but it sent folks into a frenzy.

It’s certainly fun seeing professional athletes having this much fun playing a softball game. It’s even better to see their high level of competitiveness in a meaningless game. I guess that’s why they’re professional athletes and I’m sitting here writing about them (well, that and their insane athleticism, but I digress).

Next. Blake Baker is an aggressive recruiter for the Tigers. dark

Mayfield, Landry, and Beckham better get some quality time together this offseason — they’ll have their work cut out for them in the AFC North this season, thanks to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, another former LSU standout.

Throw in the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens and it should be a wild year in the AFC North.
