LSU Football: Tigers received a very important recruiting visit on Wednesday
By Zach Ragan
LSU Football received an extremely important (and well-timed) recruiting visit on Wednesday.
According to multiple reports (including this one from Rivals), 2022 four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston is taking an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge on Wednesday and Thursday.
Preston, 6-foot/190 lbs from Saint James, LA (St James), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 8 wide receiver in the country and the No. 4 player in Louisiana.
He’s also ranked as the No. 69 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
Shazz Preston visiting LSU football is big for the Tigers
This visit is well-timed because Preston recently took a visit to USC that went well for the Trojans.
“[Preston] is coming off a major trip to USC in which he fell in love with the West Coast,” wrote Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman this week. “Preston raved about his time in Los Angeles and said he could definitely envision playing for the Trojans when it’s all said and done.”
Getting Preston on campus quickly after his visit to USC is huge for the Tigers. This gives Preston less time to focus on his great trip to USC.
While I think USC is definitely a big threat to steal Preston from LSU, I still believe the Tigers are the program to beat here.
LSU is communicating with Preston on a weekly basis. Wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph and Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron have done a great job of building a solid relationship with the talented wide receiver.
Will that relationship be enough to keep USC from invading Louisiana and stealing one of the state’s most talented players?
We’ll see in the coming months. This recruiting battle is likely going to go down to the wire.
