LSU football currently has three wide receivers committed to their 2022 recruiting class.

But that doesn’t mean the Tigers are done recruiting wide receivers.

LSU’s wide receiver commitments are from three in-state players.

Four-star wide receiver Aaron Anderson committed to the Tigers in December. Four-star wide receiver AJ Johnson committed in February, while three-star wide receiver Decoldest Crawford has been committed to LSU since late 2019.

LSU football’s top two wide receiver targets in 2022 recruiting cycle

Even though LSU has three wide receivers committed to its 2022 recruiting class, they’re still pursuing at least two more wide receivers (their top two targets are still uncommitted).

According to 247Sports’ Shea Dixon, four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston — a Louisiana native — and five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart are the Tigers’ top two wide receiver targets.

“I’m told Louisiana’s Shazz Preston and the Lone Star State’s Evan Stewart are at the top of the wish list,” wrote Dixon on Monday.

Dixon noted that LSU is in a “good spot” for Preston. He also mentioned that the program is positioning itself well for Stewart.

Stewart, a Texas native, took an unofficial visit to LSU this past weekend. He was able to hang out with five-star quarterback Walker Howard, an LSU commit who is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class.

LSU is battling Florida and Texas for Stewart’s commitment.

Landing both Preston and Stewart will obviously be tough. But if the Tigers are able to pull it off, they’ll finish the 2022 recruiting cycle with possibly the top wide receiver haul in the nation.

Of course, that shouldn’t be much of a surprise — LSU is called the real “wide receiver U” for a reason.
