LSU football added some more talent to its 2022 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon.

2022 three-star defensive lineman Fitzgerald West committed to the Tigers on Saturday over Alabama, SMU, and Tulane.

West, 6-foot-2/325 lbs from Lafayette, LA (Lafayette Christian Academy), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 140 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 44 player in Louisiana.

The talented defensive lineman announced his commitment at a ceremony at Lafayette Christian.

“I’m going to get straight to it. Without further ado, I’ll be taking my talents to Louisiana State University,” said West (via Rivals.com).

LSU Football continues to add talent to a loaded recruiting class

West’s commitment on Saturday gives LSU 14 commits to its 2022 recruiting class, which is currently ranked No. 4 in the country and No. 1 in the SEC.

The Tigers have added three commits in July.

In addition to the commitment from West, LSU has also received commitments this month from unrated kicker Nathan Dibert (a Michigan native) and four-star linebacker DeMario Tolan (a Florida native).

LSU is still pursuing several top-rated recruits, such as five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart and five-star cornerback Denver Harris, among several others.

It’s highly likely that Ed Orgeron and his staff will land a couple more five-stars in the coming months. That means the Tigers could have a legitimate shot at landing the nation’s top-rated 2022 recruiting class.

dark. Next. Coach O isn't revealing QB plans

Of course, landing the top-rated class doesn’t matter a whole lot. If a program is finishing with top-five recruiting classes on a regular basis, there’s a great chance that the program will annually compete for national championships.

And that’s exactly what the Tigers have been doing under Coach O.
