LSU Football has three of the top 50 players in college football on its roster according to 247Sports.

The sports network revealed their top 50 players in college football this week.

247Sports has Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux as their No. 1 overall player.

“Thibodeaux is CFB’s premier EDGE rusher and can change a game in an instant. He’s the most feared defensive player in college football,” said 247Sports’ Chris Hummer.

Tigers star cornerback Derek Stingley wasn’t No. 1 in 247Sports’ rankings, but he wasn’t far off.

247Sports has Stingley ranked as the No. 2 overall player in college football entering the 2021 season.

“Stingley, the highest-rated cornerback prospect in Top247 history, should be the preseason favorite for the Thorpe Award in a loaded year for defensive backs,” wrote Hummer.

El Ricks, the cornerback who will be starting across from Stingley in 2021, came in at No. 20 on the list.

“Ricks finished the year with PFF College’s sixth-highest coverage grade among FBS players,” wrote Hummer. “He and Stingley should form the nation’s best 1-2 cornerback duo.”

The final LSU player to be included in the top 50 was wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, who came in at No. 50.

Hummer sees Boutte as one of college football’s next big superstars.

“There are other receivers in college football who’ve had more production than Boutte to this point. But Boutte is on this list because he’s one of the game’s next superstars,” suggested Hummer.

Boutte finished his true freshman season in 2020 with 45 receptions for 735 yards and five touchdowns. Those are better numbers than Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson put in their freshmen seasons in Baton Rouge.
