LSU football is one of three teams still in the mix to land one of the nation’s top-rated athletes.

2022 four-star athlete Azareyeh Thomas revealed his final three schools on Saturday. He included the Tigers, along with Georgia Tech and Florida.

“The calm before the storm,” tweeted Thomas along with a video graphic of his final three.

Thomas, 6-foot-1/177 lbs from Niceville, FL (Niceville High School), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 athlete in the country and the No. 15 player in Florida. He’s also rated as the No. 105 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

Azareyeh Thomas is a big priority for LSU football

Thomas is a highly coveted recruit…and for good reason.

247Sports southeast recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins says Thomas “could find a home at corner or safety depending on program needs”. Ivins also noted that Thomas “might even have offensive coaches fighting to get him some reps at wide receiver if the injury bug hits”.

According to Shea Dixon, who covers LSU for 247Sports, Thomas is “sitting high” on Tigers defensive backs coach Corey Raymond’s wish list.

Thomas recently took an official visit to LSU, and he’s scheduled to be in Florida this upcoming weekend for a cookout.

The talented athlete still has a lot of thinking to do when it comes to making a decision. Thomas told Rivals.com in June that he’s still undecided, but he offered some insight on what he’s looking for in a program.

“To be honest, just a place that I feel comfortable, that I feel will benefit me with not only being like an athlete but the student side,” said Thomas. “So, I feel like a school that has great schooling and great football.”
