McVay recently took an unofficial visit to LSU, which included meeting Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron for the first time.

Miles McVay recounts meeting LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron for the first time

McVay recently spoke to 247Sports about his unofficial visit to Baton Rouge. And it likely won’t come as a surprise that his description of meeting Coach O is exactly what you’d expect.

“I had only seen him (Orgeron) on TV and in the movies and it was cool to see that he is just like he was in The Blind Side,” said McVay. “Coach O made you feel like you were at his house for a holiday dinner. The conversations were warm and they were not about football, but just life and the quality of life. Coach O was grandpa.”

McVay was impressed with Orgeron’s demeanor, as well as the head coach’s expectations.

“I like the way you know his rules and the expectations and how we all working hard and handling our business will make everything work,” explained McVay.

McVay told 247Sports that LSU is “high” on his list after his visit.

That’s certainly good news for the Tigers, but there’s still a long way to go until 2023 players can sign. LSU will have to beat out the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Michigan State, and Ole Miss for McVay’s commitment.
