LSU football commit makes bold claim about Tigers true freshman
By Zach Ragan
LSU football’s had a ridiculous amount of wide receiver talent come through Baton Rouge in recent years.
From Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry to Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, it’s been a who’s who of future NFL wide receiver stars for the Tigers over the last decade.
It doesn’t look like that trend will stop anytime soon, either.
We already know about current LSU stars like Kayshon Boutte, who set an SEC single-game record last season with 308 receiving yards in the Tigers’ win against Ole Miss. We also know about Koy Moore, Jontre Kirklin, Trey Palmer, and Jaray Jenkins — talented wide receivers who were key contributors for the Tigers in 2020.
LSU also has several talented true freshmen coming in, including their three highest-rated wide receiver signees: Deion Smith, Chris Hilton, and Brian Thomas Jr.
There’s another true freshman wide receiver, however, that should probably be receiving a bit more hype.
LSU Football true freshman Jack Bech could be a star
Wide receiver Jack Bech was the Tigers’ lowest-rated four-star recruit that signed during the 2021 recruiting cycle.
Bech, 6-foot-2/215 lbs from Lafayette, LA, was ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 57 wide receiver in the country and the No. 11 player in Louisiana.
That’s not an overly impressive ranking, but it’s pretty solid.
Five-star quarterback Walker Howard, an LSU commit who is rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class, thinks Bech should’ve rated much higher.
In fact, Howard, who played with Bech at St. Thomas More, believes Bech was the best high school player in the country last season.
“He was the best high school player in the country no doubt,” said Howard this week on the Jordy Culotta Show.
It’s certainly possible that Howard is offering a hyperbolic statement about his former teammate.
But it’s also possible that Howard, one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the country, truly believes that Bech was the best high school player in the country.
Either way, it’s clear that Howard believes in Bech. And if a quarterback of Howard’s caliber is a believer, it means big things could be in store for Bech at LSU.
