LSU football is one of the teams to beat for an elite 2022 four-star defensive lineman from the west coast.

Anthony Lucas, 6-foot-4/279 lbs from Scottsdale, AZ (Chaparral), revealed his top seven schools to 247Sports (via his father), and the Tigers made the cut, along with Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Oregon, USC, and Miami.

Lucas is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 15 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 1 player in Arizona.

He’s also ranked as the No. 84 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

Will LSU football land Anthony Lucas?

This is a recruiting battle that is still very much up in the air.

Lucas has already used his five official visits and LSU wasn’t one of the schools he officially visited.

However, Lucas did take an unofficial visit to LSU recently.

Lucas’s mother told 247Sports that the family will take more visits this fall before making a final decision.

“We definitely want to take one to Texas A&M, it’s close by and we definitely want to go to Notre Dame,” said Lucas’s mother. “A game at Alabama and Miami, LSU, we want to go take in a game and we’re probably going to visit five or six schools for games.”

Ed Orgeron is one of the best in the business when it comes to developing defensive linemen. In fact, some folks would probably suggest that Orgeron is the standard when it comes to defensive linemen.

That alone will have LSU in the mix until the end with Lucas.

It certainly sounds like Lucas is open to playing on the east coast, so it wouldn’t be a major surprise if the Tigers were able to land to talented 2022 recruit.
