Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is feeling frustrated early in Cincinnati Bengals training camp.

Burrow simply isn’t feeling like himself at the moment.

“It’s frustrating right now, more so just not feeling like myself,” said Burrow on Saturday (via ESPN). “I know I’ve put the work in to make my knee feel good, make my body ready for the season. It’s just now trusting my abilities, trusting my work, trusting everything.”

The former Tigers standout is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in the Bengals’ week 11 matchup against the Washington Football Team last season.

Bengals fans shouldn’t worry too much about Joe Burrow’s struggles in training camp

It’s not necessarily a surprise that Burrow is struggling a bit in training camp — he hasn’t played in a game in nearly a year. It’s going to take some time to get back in the groove. Especially considering he’s only played in 10 career NFL games.

Part of the reason Burrow hasn’t been able to find his rhythm is because he hasn’t been exposed to live tackling during camp.

“I just need to get back to being able to feel the people around me as opposed to seeing the people around me,” explained Burrow.

While I can understand why some fans would be concerned by these comments from Burrow, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about here.

It’s important to remember that Burrow holds himself to ridiculous standards. He’s a perfectionist in every sense of the word. What might be passable for one quarterback is unacceptable for Burrow.

Of course, that’s what separates Burrow from other young quarterbacks in the league. His desire to be great is second to none.

And that’s why expectations are sky high for Burrow’s NFL career.
