It’s safe to say that LSU football‘s 2020 season was a letdown.

After winning it all in spectacular fashion in 2019 (going 15-0), the Tigers came back to earth in 2020.

LSU finished 5-5 last season — a sharp departure from the domination we saw in 2019.

As a result of the lackluster season, Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron hired several new assistants during the offseason, including Baton Rouge native Brad Davis.

Davis, who was previously the offensive line coach at Arkansas, will replace James Cregg as LSU’s offensive line coach.

LSU football offensive line coach Brad Davis isn’t playing around

Davis hasn’t been on LSU’s staff long — he was hired by Orgeron in early June — but he’s already making his impact felt.

The former Oklahoma offensive lineman set the tone early in camp with an intense reminder of the expectations at LSU.

According to 247Sports, the Tigers’ offensive line appeared “sluggish” this weekend, which prompted Davis to fire off the reminder.

“Things either change or they just stay the same,” yelled Davis. “The standard is (expletive) championships.”

This should get LSU fans fired up.

Davis isn’t messing around this season. He’s expecting a lot out of his offensive line. And it’s clear that he believes it’s championship or bust for the Tigers — regardless of preseason polls and predictions from national talking heads.

This is the way it should be. LSU should be competing for championships every single year. The talent is there. It’s always going to be there.

Coach O did a great job of hiring new assistants that will insert much-needed energy into every position group.

Will it mean more wins for the Tigers in 2021?

It better — otherwise Orgeron might make even more changes after the 2021 season.
