LSU Football: Tigers make top 5 for elite in-state RB
By Zach Ragan
2022 four-star running back Trevor Etienne revealed his top five schools this week and LSU football, unsurprisingly, made the cut.
The Tigers were joined in Etienne’s top five by Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia.
Etienne is the brother of former Clemson running back Travis Etienne (who was drafted No. 25 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars).
The 5-foot-10/200 lb running back is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 14 running back in the country and the No. 12 player in Louisiana.
What Trevor Etienne likes about LSU football
Etienne spoke with 247Sports after dropping his top five. And it seems evident from his comments that LSU is near the top of his list.
“I like that it’s close to home and close to family and friends,” said Etienne. “Being from Lousiana, there’s really nothing like it. And then the offense, I love their offense.”
Etienne is also a big fan of how running backs have been used in LSU’s offense over the last couple of years.
“I have seen what they did with Clyde [Edwards-Helaire] in the backfield,” said Etienne. “They used him as a receiver and a running back. As a back, I like that….that could be perfect for me. It would let me showcase my skills.”
LSU currently has one running back committed to its 2022 recruiting class (four-star in-state running back TreVonte Citizen). They’ll definitely add another running back.
But will it be Etienne?
Well, that depends on whether or not Etienne wants to play in Baton Rouge. It also depends on how high Etienne is on LSU’s recruiting board.
Though if I’m Ed Orgeron, I’m not sure I’d want to roll the dice on passing on another Etienne (it was too little too late for the Tigers while recruiting Travis Etienne).
