The USA Today coaches preseason top 25 was released earlier this week and LSU football was ranked No. 13.

On Monday, the Tigers will learn where they’re ranked in the preseason AP Top 25.

247Sports’ Brad Crawford took a guess at predicting what AP Top 25 will look like. And he has LSU coming in at No. 15.

Here’s what Crawford had to say about the Tigers:

"LSU trudged through a difficult 2020 season from opt outs to a slew of star players and coaches gone to new opportunities, but a strong finish — plus some encouraging staff changes — gives Ed Orgeron confidence entering the fall. LSU is ranked inside the top 20 in most major way-too-early preseason polls and we’re expecting AP voters to do the same."

LSU football is being fairly ranked in the preseason

If the Tigers end up around No. 15 in the AP Top 25, I think it will be a fair ranking.

Based on last season, LSU doesn’t deserve to be ranked. They didn’t finish the season as a ranked team and they still have a lot to prove.

While I think the Tigers will end up being a top 10 team by the end of the season, they still have to actually make it happen.

It feels like Ed Orgeron is actually getting some respect with these rankings. Voters and college football analysts recognize that Orgeron made some big changes during the offseason that should help LSU’s program take a major step forward.

Orgeron is coaching with a sense of urgency. That’s just how he’s wired. He’s going to do everything at 100 percent effort. And that includes hiring and firing coaches.

Next. Ed Orgeron is sticking to promise he made during recruiting cycle. dark

Of course, it’s not like it matters whether or not LSU is ranked in the AP Top 25. It has no bearing on how the team will perform in 2021. It’s just nice to see voters giving the Tigers the benefit of the doubt, instead of trying to say that the 2019 championship run was a “one year wonder”.

Because we all know that’s not true.
