Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is approaching mythical status as a football player.

And he’s only in his second year in the NFL.

Wild.

It’s true, though. After putting together one of the greatest collegiate seasons ever for LSU football in 2019, Burrow was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Over the last couple of years, we’ve heard a myriad of stories about Burrow’s competitiveness, leadership, and how he’s an incredible teammate. It seems like every week there’s a new story about Burrow that paints the former LSU star as a legend in the making.

This week was no different, as we learned that Burrow is essentially working two jobs with the Bengals right now.

Joe Burrow is the starting quarterback and an offensive coach for the Bengals

Cincinnati should probably give Burrow a raise since it appears he’s also an assistant coach these days.

According to The Ringer’s Kevin Clark, the Bengals are letting Burrow run some of the team’s offensive meetings with skill position players.

From The Ringer:

"The coaching staff has been letting Burrow run some of the offensive meetings with skill players. “So it’s ‘Hey Ja’Marr, I don’t see this, I don’t like the way you ran that, I need you to run it at this depth and this angle so I know exactly when you’re going to come out.’ So him having those conversations of what he expects is far more powerful than any conversation I’m going to have in front of them,” Callahan said. “The more ownership we can give Joe the better. “"

To be clear, the Bengals have assistants that typically run these meetings. But they think so highly of Burrow — a quarterback who has played less than a full season in the NFL — that they’re ok with him running some of these meetings.

Most quarterbacks that are Burrow’s age are still trying to find their footing in the NFL. Even other highly regarded quarterback prospects are usually still adjusting to life in the NFL — learning how to be a professional.

The fact that Burrow is actually running some offensive meetings for the Bengals is absolutely insane. I don’t think folks truly understand how advanced Burrow is as a quarterback.

This is the type of stuff that you hear about with quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. That’s the kind of mindset that Burrow possesses.

I can’t wait to see what Burrow’s future in the NFL holds. He’s going to do some amazing things.

dark. Next. The best decision for Myles Brennan and his future at LSU

And Cincinnati is going to be a team to watch in the AFC because of his presence.
