LSU football is viewed as the favorite for an elite 2022 offensive lineman according to a couple of Rivals national recruiting analysts.

Four-star offensive tackle Julian Armella, 6-foot-6/300 lbs from Fort Lauderdale, FL (St. Thomas Aquinas), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 17 player in Florida. He’s also rated as the No. 126 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

Rivals national recruiting analysts Adam Gorney and Ryan Wright recently discussed Armella’s recruitment.

And they both feel like the Tigers are the program to beat for the talented offensive lineman.

Landing Julian Armella would be a nice get for LSU football

Gorney said he feels like LSU “has the edge” for Armella thanks to Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron’s work to build a great relationship with Armella’s family.

Wright noted that he views LSU as the favorite because of Coach O’s relationship with Armella, as well as new Tigers offensive line coach Brad Davis and his relationship with the elite recruit.

So far, the only official visit that Armella has taken has been to LSU, so that’s obviously something that’s working in the Tigers’ favor.

There’s still a long way to go in this battle. We’ll see how visits go this fall. But for now, it certainly appears that LSU is in a good spot for Armella.

The Tigers currently have 15 players committed to its 2022 recruiting class, including five-star offensive lineman Will Campbell (a Louisiana native) and four-star offensive lineman Emery Jones.

Landing Armella would possibly give LSU the best group of 2022 offensive linemen signees in the country.
