The 2021 Cincinnati Bengals are on the verge of looking a lot like the 2019 LSU Football team.

That’s obviously not a bad thing, considering the insane success the Tigers had in 2019.

Quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase were reunited in April when the Bengals selected Chase with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Could another former LSU teammate join Burrow and Chase in Cincinnati?

Will former LSU football tight end Thaddeus Moss make the Bengals’ 53 man roster?

Former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss, an undrafted free agent who was signed by the Washington Football Team after the 2020 NFL Draft (and later released), was hoping to make the Bengals’ 53-man roster this week (he was originally claimed off waivers by Cincinnati in April).

Unfortunately for Moss, that wasn’t the case on Tuesday.

Moss, the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, was among the Bengals’ roster cuts.

And that can’t make Burrow very happy.

The former LSU quarterback said this past weekend that he felt like Moss was going to be a big part of the team this fall.

Here’s what Burrow had to say (via ESPN’s Ben Baby):

"Joe Burrow on his good friend Thaddeus Moss: “I think he’s going to be a big part of this team.” Said Moss was actually in town to hang out with Burrow a week before the Bengals signed him."

It definitely sounds like Burrow wanted Moss to make the team.

And the Bengals obviously listen to Burrow — that’s one of the big reasons why the team selected Chase with the No. 5 overall pick (instead of offensive lineman).

But in the case of Moss, it appears the Bengals didn’t care that Burrow wanted his former Tigers teammate on the roster. The team simply didn’t like they needed Moss on the 53 man roster.

It appears that C.J. Uzomah, Drew Sample, and Mitchell Wilcox will be Cincinnati’s three tight ends.

Next. Texans did LSU a favor. dark

I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if the Bengals sign Moss to their practice squad.
