The unlikely wild card options

There are a few names that seem unlikely that I didn’t mention. But I’m sure they’ll be bandied about by fans, so I’ll mention them here briefly.

Joe Brady — Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator: Brady seems like he has his eyes set on an NFL head coaching job. He got some interviews last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone takes a chance on him this offseason.

Jimbo Fisher — Texas A&M head coach: Scott Woodward hired Fisher at Texas A&M. And Fisher of course has the LSU connection (he as the OC from 2000-2006 in Baton Rouge). But he has a good thing going at Texas A&M and he’s getting paid well. It wouldn’t make much sense for him to leave.

Steve Sarkisian — Texas head coach: Another coach with a connection to Woodward. Sarkisian was hired by Woodward at Washington. Again, I don’t think Sarkisian leaves Texas after just getting the job — especially with the Longhorns’ pending move to the SEC.

Bob Stoops — Former Oklahoma head coach: I still think Stoops eventually wants to return to coaching college football. He turns 61 this week, though, so time is running out on a return. Maybe the move of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC could inspire a return. LSU would be a marquee job where Stoops could have instant success.
