LSU football silenced some of the doubters this week with a 28-25 road win against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (one of those doubters being ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit).

While the win wasn’t necessarily pretty, it was still an SEC road win. And after losing to Mississippi State last season, it was a game the Tigers had to win.

LSU gets Auburn in Baton Rouge this week. Auburn didn’t look great against Georgia State last week. This is a great opportunity for Ed Orgeron’s squad to change the narrative of the 2021 season. If LSU can convincingly beat Auburn in Death Valley, it will make the loss to UCLA earlier this season look like a slight speedbump, instead of an indication that the program is in trouble under Coach O.

LSU vs Auburn Odds Week 5

The latest odds from WynnBet have LSU as a -3.5 point favorite (-110). Auburn is +3.5 (-110).

LSU is -180 on the moneyline while Auburn is +150. The over/under for the game is 55 (the over is -115 and the under is -105).

LSU vs Auburn Prediction Week 5

I’m feeling pretty confident about LSU in this one. I don’t think Auburn is very good. And I don’t think Bryan Harsin is a good fit as the program’s head coach.

If LSU can play with great effort for 60 minutes, they shouldn’t have any issues against Auburn. The only thing that makes me nervous about this game is a late backdoor cover from Auburn (if LSU lets up like they did last week against Mississippi State). But with that said, I’m still taking LSU -3.5 and on the moneyline.

As far as the over/under, I think the under hits in this matchup. LSU’s offense hasn’t fired on all cylinders this season and neither has Auburn’s. I could see the final score of this game being in the 28-20 range.
