2. Chris Petersen — Former Washington head coach

Chris Petersen is going to be mentioned because he’s an elite former head coach who is only 56 (he turns 57 later this month).

He was also hired at Washington by current LSU athletic director Scott Woodward.

But I seriously doubt he’ll be an option for the Tigers.

Petersen’s personality isn’t made for the SEC. He’s a great coach, but he’s not a fan of the attention and media coverage that comes along with the job. He retired from Washington for a reason — the stress was becoming too much.

I think we all know that the stress at LSU would be way worse than anything you can imagine at Washington. I can’t see Petersen jetting across the country to Baton Rouge to take on this challenge. Petersen may eventually return to coaching, but it will be at a west coast school that’s a bit more under the radar than LSU.
