LSU football is struggling right now.

And it doesn’t look like things are getting better anytime soon.

The Tigers fell to 3-3 on the season after a 42-21 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats this past weekend.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is squarely on the hot seat at this point. He needs a miraculous turnaround to save his job.

The upcoming schedule for the Tigers, however, makes that miraculous turnaround unlikely.

LSU hosts Florida this weekend, before taking on Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas.

Orgeron believes a win against the Gators on Saturday could be the moment that changes everything for the Tigers this season.

LSU football set to take on the Florida Gators

Orgeron knows his job is in danger. He’s approaching his status as LSU’s head coach one day at a time, doing the job he was hired to do, but he knows it could all be ending soon.

But that doesn’t mean Coach O is giving up. He still believes LSU can get on the right track this season. And he thinks that a win on Saturday would put some “feel good” back into the program.

Here’s what Orgeron had to say on Monday about the matchup with Florida (via 247Sports):

"Yes it could (change everything). It could. Playing Florida, we just lost two big games in a row. Playing Florida is obviously a rivalry game for LSU. We’re playing at home. They’re a very good football team and it’s going to be a tremendous challenge, but yes, I think that can put a little feel good back in the program.”"

A win against Florida would certainly help, but I’m not sure that will be enough to save Orgeron’s job. The Gators are a talented team (they’re currently ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll), but they’re far from being one of the top teams in the nation. Florida also recently lost to Kentucky.

The only way Orgeron can save his job is by winning five of LSU’s final six games this season — and even that may not be enough.

dark. Next. We were deceived by LSU in 2020

At this point, it’s hard to imagine Orgeron as the head coach in Baton Rouge next season.
